You are an A-S-S my friend.

DISCLAIMER: FOR GIRLS ONLY because bitching makes us feel better.

I'm just thinking about how mean/dumb/selfish BOYS are. I say boys because only 25% of you deserve to be called Men, and 25% is being generous.

For you, Corey, in honor of a best friend (because you're too classy to cuss him out in person like he deserves):

I don't understand how feelings can change within a matter of days. How in God's name, can you text "i love you" to a girl you've been dating for over 4 months and then 5 days later, completely brush her off as if she doesn't exist.

Oh that's right, you're an ass.

To be realistic, I can understand how feelings can change. Honestly, I do, it's life and it happens. However what I don't understand is you taking the peckerhead (thanks for that word Gramps), cowardly way out.

Oh that's right, you're selfish.

What was your reason in asking her to Birmingham to a wedding anyways? She drove to see you, not having seen you in a month. But don't worry, her feelings weren't hurt when you blatantly avoided her. Well, until of course you saw her taking shots with another boy. Then you come over for a, "Hey babe, what's up?"

Oh that's right, you're selfish, mean AND an ass.

I even could careless how mean you are to her friends, as long as you're nice to her. But I guess you can't even pull that off?

I wanted to tell you when you were sleeping on my floor that you're not even good enough to sleep on filth, not to mention my carpet...but hey, I'm a nice girl.

When you tried to tell her she could no longer come to that wedding because she didn't have a seat, I guess I was right to ask, "do you believe him?" I especially saw through your measly attempts to soften the blow through texts messages that read, "I'm so sorry. I'm so mad. Please don't hate me. I feel like you're going to hate me."

Why would you even bother to tell her you're going to meet her out afterward? You knew all along you'd never call again.

OHHHHHHHHHHH that's right, you're mean, you're selfish, you're dumb, you're just plain shitty.

Note: For the guys who actually read through this, this are the types guys who make you all look bad...and in turn, makes girls just a lil bit crazy.

sorry friends

I think I've waited too long to write about New Orleans, and now I'm a little bitter about it. This really isn't for anyone else since I'm not giving a whole lot of info, but it'll always be funny to us.

SOOOO let's talk about the obvious and use things from NOLA as examples. I drink too much. The fact that y'all had to brush my hair for me in the bar is enough. Except that's not all...it began New Years Eve with me saying, "here's the key Roomie. I'll see y'all later," and ended with, "um PA...i think you need to go home. You're not allowed anymore alcohol."

Damn orange octane drink.

2nd--Falcon always wants to be connected to bars and dance... All weekend she made out with a certain bar owner, and spent a little time the first night on a stripper pole. NO worries about the Hippy DJ STRIPPER who was on it before...or that you took "lessons" from her.

3rd--Roomie, you're pretty boring...i wish you had more stories. He's not that big of a deal.

4th--BTR (Big Truck Lover, is your new nickname. You know who you are.) is probably going to be the loudest person at a bar, and if you get her to take you home (because she prob won't go to your house) you won't get any lovin'. Also, If you've missed something she said the first time, you'll prob hear it again. Examples all from the same night, "I ATE ALLIGATOR...THE ALLIGATOR I ATE TASTE LIKE CHICKEN...THEN I ATE SOMEONES PO-BOY WHO WAS SLEEPING AT THE TABLE." Then, repeat, repeat, repeat. The boy has yet to get any...

BTR--Don't be mad...you know i love you. when i think about this night i think about that huge ass smile you had on your face. :)

5th--ONLY YOU, Vespa, could go on an actual date with someone you met on NYE in NOLA. Sidenote: IF you're making out in a dark corner, make sure you know where your purse is. It's likely that someone will pick it up, and you'll never know it gave you the slip. Example, Billy the native, and only spending one night in the room she paid for. Oh and we probably should have apologized to those pedestrians you almost threw up on while walking thru the French Quarter.

QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: "Where's Vespa?"

don't worry, be happy

I found an article about being happy. I thought I'd paraphrase and share.

Happiness can be a paradox: The more you reach for it, the more it seems to slip through your fingers. Try overcoming the barriers.

Barrier #1: Complexity.
Solution? SIMPLIFY.

Barrier #2: Breakneck Pace
Solution? Take a break.

Barrier #3: Negativity
Solution? Let it go.

Barrier #4: Despair
Solution? Stay Hopeful.

Barrier #5: Suppressing your sadness
Solution? Feel what's real, right in front of you.

Barrier #6: Navel-Gazing
Solution? Connect with someone.

the sun is good.

I've been thoroughly missing the sun. Blaming my blahness on the lack there of. Thankfully the sun came out to play today. I was walking out of my apt today for lunch, and all I heard was guitar playing...then someone singing. I stood and listened for 2 min, debating on whether or not I should follow it. But I just smiled and continued on, thanks for my Vitamin D guitar guy.

HOTLANTA....Next Stop, the Big Easy

The trip to ATL was tons of fun despite the "L" to Florida. Tim Tebow is a freak of nature and that's all there is to it.

I was thinking about the best/funniest thing that happened while we were there. When you don't go to bed before 5am either night, you've got lots to tell! There was the insane car ride to Midtown where I heard the term "Sexting" (Sex Texting for those of you who are virgins as well, but I'm sure you figured that out) for the first time. Vespa explained the meaning while she was crammed in with two boys OVER 6ft tall in the backseat of a 3 series BMW. There's the incredibly fuzzy walking around in the parking deck, talking to "ryan or bryan" (don't remember which) in the back seat, and texting Phantom (yes he's still around). Hummm, that was all Friday night. Saturday was also good times. Yellowhammers at the Innisfree tailgate, game at STATS (where people SHATTERED a glass partition right after the game), and then Churchills.

Which leads me to my favorite story of the night.

I'm not really sure how Vespa does it, but she does. She always, mark my words, finds the most eligible bachelor in the room without meaning to. This time? A REALLY cute, funny orthepedic surgeon. I'm serious when I say this, the job isn't all that matters. It's more about being stable, and being able to support yourself. I wouldn't care if the guy was a lifeguard, as long as he could support himself, and was happy doing it. It's the rest of the story that makes him so eligible.

We lost her for a HUGE amount of time. No surprise she was missing, but was hoping she hadn't left the building. She comes beebopping to our corner with this cute guy strolling behind her. Of course, we're like, "um hello, who are you?" He excitedly introduces himself and begins a converation. While the roommate has his undivided attention, Vespa decides to tell me a little story. Goes something like this,

She goes up to the bar to order a drink. She's standing beside the Dr, who introduces himself and his friend. Apparently the Dr. and the friend had a convo before because the friend bolted after the introduction . Anyways, to make a long story short, he ordered some shots. AWFUL shots. By half way through the second, Vespa (hold your tummy friends) threw those shots right back up, in her mouth, at the bar. She RUNS outside. While she finishes up, she realizes Dr. is holding her hair back. YEP...HOLDING HER HAIR BACK. She obviously visits the bathroom, and walks back out fully expecting him to be gone. NOPE, still there. She apologizes. He says, "Hey, no big deal, I've dealt with all this before, blood, throw-up, piss, you name it." (This is when he tells her he's a Dr.) Anyway, the night continues on, he gets her number and we go home. At the time we all thought it disgustingly hilarious, but now it's a cute story. They went out last night, but I haven't gotten the low down on that yet. Hopefully it went well.

So there you have it, a snapshot of the weekend in ATL. Can't wait until New Years, plus a football game in Nola. Sure to be great times ahead.

Alex Supertramp...being 23 years old.

Last night was Mexican and movie night because there's absolutely nothing on TV. Nat gave me "Into the Wild" to borrow this past Sunday. She raved about how great it was. I was definitely apprehensive about watching it. It's 2.5 hours long about a guy's solitary journey to Alaska. I shamefully said to myself, "Really, how interesting can this be? I mean I know its supposed to be meaningful and insightful...but it's probably going to be extremely, exceedingly slow moving.

Oh how I was wrong. Before I knew it, I was tearing up at the, "I was thinking...Do you think that I could adopt you?" comment.
The movie contributed to such a strange range of emotions for me. I left the couch saying, "what an idiot!" and "how courageous!" He found what he was searching for in the end, but it cost him his life.

Chris McCandless got me thinking about my own recent issues. The being bored with what's going on in my life, trying to find what is most important and what SHOULD be most important. I think (or maybe I'm just making myself feel better) it's "normal" for people my age.

I like to call it "the funk." It's the time right after college...not RIGHT after, but like 6 months after. After the newness of being a "real adult" wears off, and you question whether or not you've made the right choices. Because you're probably sitting at a job where you're at least somewhat close to the bottom of the totem pole, and your bored a majority of the time. If your work allows it, you're probably spending a lot of time on facebook. You're on the brink of hating the "career world."

The funk then moves in, into your personal life, and you begin to doubt your relationships. Relationship with others of the opposite and the same sex.

At this fork in the road, I like to believe I took a "right" turn. I began to focus on myself. I spent more time alone, and when I wasn't alone I wanted to be with the people who made me genuinely happy. It's amazing what you can find out about yourself when you're alone. Or when you notice yourself truly laughing with great friends. After a few months, I strayed. I got sucked into the proverbial funk again.

To make a longer story shorter...I did some soul searching. I'm going to spend more time with Lindsey and good people. I'm going to do the things that make ME happy. Not what the world thinks should make me happy...

SOOOOOOO there you have it. I promise to bring the funny stuff back soon :)

Turtles and Snails

I've decided I don't like "slow." I don't like to drive slow. I don't like to work slow. I don't like to talk slow. I don't like to read slow. AND I don't like to relationship slow.

Do I have to go at warp speed? No, but I do like it faster than at a snail's pace. I even understand caution vs chaotic...I actually agree. However, there comes a point in time where you gotta get off the train if its going no where...regardless if it's fast or slow.

The life of the Irish.

Sorry this is the first to update...its the first I've had the chance!

We arrived in Kinsale, Ireland on Sunday around 2pm. I had the WORST case of jet lag. All I wanted to do was rest my soul. However, I was to stay up, so we set out for touring our little harbour town. It's located in the southern region of Ireland. Our cottage is adorable, rich in history. The town is amazing. The thing I love most about Ireland are the little villages. They are all charming and quaint. Kinsale is no different. They have an actual town butcher. I supposed I assumed all the world had modernized to Publixes and Targets. St. Patrick's Day was filled with much singing and drinking...everywhere. We spent our holiday night at one of the oldest pubs in Ireland, The Spaniard. Interesting choice of name, right?

Tuesday we traveled (where I am presently) to Dublin. We've been doing some heavy shopping, and touring the city. Today we ventured to the Guinness Factory, and other places around the City Centre. Tomorrow we plan to visit Dublin Castle, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Christ's Church.

Things I've discovered in Ireland...they are very blunt. In all the senses of the word, they use very direct names and they use VULGAR words in every day vernacular. Fuck, is NOT considered a curse word, and C yoU Next Tuesday is equivalent to calling someone an idiot. Smartly, Restroom=Toilet, Elevator=Lift, For Lease=To Let, and there are NO cars larger than a VW Jetta.

Anyways, there might be more soon. Internet is not as accessible as in the States.

Picture on facebook!

A faithful loss.

I first heard of the loss of Bronner Burgess Monday night. As a daily listener of the Rick and Bubba show, I felt as though I was a true friend of family. Completely broke my heart. After reading statements from Rick and his family, I realize they are truly amazingly faithful. To acknowledge that Bronner was a gift from God they only had the privilege to parent, is such a testimony. To speak of Him as Bronner's true Father, is nothing less than an example of a true believer.

Makes you stop and take a GOOD HARD look at yourself, and your beliefs.

As taken from the Rick and Bubba website:

The Burgess's want to give all Honor and Glory to GOD for the many blessings He has given us, especially the life of Bronner Burgess. And while we do not understand, we know who is in charge and His will be done in life and in death.

So where does it put me?

It's a new year...Two-thousand, eight, dammit.

I mean, you're supposed to "resolve" make your life different, more effective, and even enjoyable. I've done none of this. What kind of person does that make me? I like to think smarter because I "reflect." On the years past...what stupid thing did I do, and did I learn from it? In most cases, of course, but obviously in some...absolutely not. And its more fun that way!

Sooo what did I learn in 2007?

1. I love my friends. They are the best that anyone can ask for. Now, I know this is the crap every girl says, but I really do. What's great is that they all KICK ASS for completely different reasons. We'll see how I make it with TWO of them living a heck of a plane ticket and plane ride away.

2. I learned that even though you meet the nicest, most goodlooking-est guy you've every met, and he gets your number, AND seems completely interested....He's not. Why I didn't learn this my freshman year of college, I'll never know.

3. Get ahead. Get ahead in your job because you'll fall behind if you don't.

4. Give as much as you get. It actually feels better to give, then to get. (if you're actually human. I know some that are not and it will ALWAYS be ME ME ME ME.)

5. DON'T under any circumstances date another Theta Chi! Haven't you played with them enough already?

6. DON'T let anyone stay at your apt if you're not there. EVER.

7. Don't dance on the picnic table at Gallettes. Absolutely NOTHING good can come of that, i.e. the worst bruise imaginable even though I didn't feel it until the next day. oh...and you'll get pink eye too.

8. Probably my most valuable one of all...Be Honest...in every relationship you participate in. It will ALWAYS work out for the better.

That's all for now...I considered writing about how I rang in the New Years (there's a story with another bruise, someone might think that I beat myself up when I drink). However, I decided that I need to make the blog about more than my random rendezvous (sp?) with drinks and boys. :)

ciao

Tupelo Honey

I'm feeling Van Morrison right now if you can't tell from the blog titles.

I'm mystified by life. Why am I where I am? Why did I take the paths that I took? I think that if people didn't have certain expectations of me...I'd be someone completely different. I take that back, I'd still ultimately be the same person, but in MUCH different circumstances...not that they would be better or worse. just different.

"...I started thinking.."

Because I've been watching the entire run of Sex in the City episodes all over again...

“Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.”

“When a relationship dies do we ever really give up the ghost or are we forever haunted by the spirits of relationships past."

I think these quotes are good references for the place I am in my "love life" right now. Do we ever really give up the ghost? I think yes and no, it depends on if we choose to let it go, and if we don't, how do we use the ghost?

*Daddy Dearest...no need to go into detail. Short and sweet, we always had so much fun together and I miss having that "connection" with someone. I think that I've stayed mad at him for so long because it didn't work and he implanted himself into my life and my friends. I've let it go though because thats the only way to have it again.
Moral of the ghost: Enjoy the memories that you've made, don't be mad. They are yours to keep, and no one can take them away.

*Jim...one reason--He basically started dating someone before we officially broke up. I've been royally pissed. I had to get over it though. I knew we weren't right together, and she actually seems to be what he's always wanted. I SETTLED once again, and besides that, I was way out of his league.
Moral of the ghost: I'm the only one that can make myself mad or upset about things I can't control. oh and STOP SETTLING for people who "could be."

hometown heros

I've found myself wondering "why not?" lately. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm pretty sure it could get me, and probably will, into trouble.

I went home to Andalusia last weekend. (Sarah's Wedding) It played out to be quite interesting, to say the least, just like I knew it would. I'll entertain you with the chain of events...I arrive in the thriving metropolis that is affectionately called "A-Town" at approximately 8:30pm. I call Megan, who I will be crashing with, and she tells me to grab beer and head on over. Of course, this is what I expected to hear, it's Andalusia for goodness sake. I pull up to (what I would have called "the Chevron") the Kangaroo Store. I notice that there are multiple flashing lights coming from this gas station. Which in my hometown only means one thing, someone was drunk driving home from a fun-filled day at the river, and SURPRISE, got pulled over. So, I purchase my beer, and of course begin my departure driving past the flashing lights. I have to know who's in trouble, how else will I be able to contribute to all the gossip I be trading this weekend!! Low-n-behold, I caught the mother load. GG* was being arrested. I immediately start spreading! This is a huge deal, in GG's own words, "I'll never be arrested in Andalusia, I know too many important people." Lovely, I know. Normally, who cares, but with GG, it's HUGE.

My night continues with a 5 year reunion at Clair's boyfriend's house. EVERYONE (minus Joe, Will, Jeb, and Christina) that I graduated with (and was friends with), was there! I did LOTS of catching up. I also found out a few things that I don't know if I necessarily wanted to hear. Just like in high school, I was the sober one and people were asking for rides. Only now the 1 AM harassments are for more beer, not "please get me home before curfew." Beaner* and Ken* extend the first request. I, of course, take them. Why not? Well, for those of you who don't know, Ken* is the high school sweetheart. I ask him, while Beaner was inside, how are you and the girlfriend. His response, "well...actually...I've purchased a ring." Honestly, this is no surprise, but its still weird, and WHY did he feel the need to tell me? To remind me that I can't find a normal guy to settle down with?! Awfully, sweet of him.

The wedding was great, fun times. Its been awhile since I've partied with the people who taught me how. I saw all the parents that I've missed, and all the friends that I haven't seen.

All-in-all, successful weekend trip to the homestead.

an engaging time...

I’ve been playing on Facebook and MySpace less and less these days. Logging on only to see the new pictures and comments I’ve been tagged to, but lately, I’ve been looking at all the people who are getting engaged. Crazy enough, most all of them are younger than me. I mean, is that what people want these days in college? Yes and No. Many girls (and boys, but mostly girls) have always had this mentality. I’ve apparently just never been friends with them. A majority of my friends don’t even have serious boyfriends. What does this say about us? I’ll tell you—it says that we were waaaay toc into hanging out with each other. We’d rather get drunk and do crazy things that we’ll always remember; rather than going through a semester trying to make this fraternity guy, that mom and dad will absolutely love, be faithful.

At the time, I think I might have actually wanted to be her (the girl that got engaged in college then got married soon after). In retrospect, I sabotaged every one of my “could be” relationships because subconsciously I didn’t want to be her. All the others, that I actually enjoyed…I knew they wouldn’t last anyways. I suppose I was just enjoying the fun.
