the sun is good.

I've been thoroughly missing the sun. Blaming my blahness on the lack there of. Thankfully the sun came out to play today. I was walking out of my apt today for lunch, and all I heard was guitar playing...then someone singing. I stood and listened for 2 min, debating on whether or not I should follow it. But I just smiled and continued on, thanks for my Vitamin D guitar guy.

more than I realize...

I feel as though I should keep track of the shows I've been too. I'm afraid I will start forgetting. Also, I just want to point out that they are so random. What does this say about me?

(Trying to get in order as they appeared...)

1. Widespread Panic
2. Jessica Simpson
3. Gov't Mule
4. Rascal Flats
5. Allman Brothers
6. KidRock
7. John Mayer (w/Ben Folds and James Morrison)
8. Marc Broussard
9. the Verve Pipe
10. Brett Dennen (Erin McCarley opened)

Favorite? Gov't Mule at the Alabama Theater...
Who I want to see so badly it hurts? Ray LaMontagne

Flowering Spade...

I found some amazing new music recently...Sean Haynes. Check it out, very folk. He plays the banjo and to me is a little reminisant of Bob Dylan in a couple songs.

Continuum Trouble

I’ve had this album for months now, but I realized today that I still haven’t become tired of it. You know how you get a cd and you listen to it TO-DEATH, and then about that time your once favorite song begins to play on the radio. This is about the time you stop listening to the “Top 40” station for fear of insanity.

Anyways, back to my point. I love it. It might be close to my all time favorite album, which is a difficult thing for me. I find it VERY hard to fall in love with every song on an album. However, two men have stolen my heart completely, Ray LaMontagne and John Mayer. Maybe I’ve always wanted a guy that sings and plays the guitar like he was taught to play before he was taught to walk. Who knows? I do know that I have a good friend, we’ll call “Sweet He” (for a good reason), who is an amazing singer. He’s a fantastic friend. I actually dated him off and on, but it never really worked. There were other boys and other girls…all-the-while, still staying great friends. I do hear from him from time to time. I received a card from him about a month ago, just a happy hello. That’s something that I’ve always loved most about him. His thoughtfulness…not everyone has that gene.

Both are different. I loved Ray the minute I heard Trouble. I was sitting in the car driving down McFarland with who at the time I thought was absolutely amazing (wrong!). I knew we (Ray and I) we’re going to be together for the rest of my life! J I bought his second record a couple of days after it came out. I don’t like it as much though. A little darker…

John, on the other hand, was given to me on a data cd. It had Nelly Furtado’s Loose, Corinne Bailey Rae’s self titled, and Continuum. I only took it for the Corinne Bailey Rae because I wasn’t a fan of the first round that Mayer released. I figured I wouldn’t like it, but I still put it on the ipod. Well needless to say—I listened, and I liked.

Ray still takes my number one spot though…mostly because the music brings memories of a fun time. I time when I learned a lot about who I was, and the kind of person I strive to be.

I should paint more.
