I've found myself wondering "why not?" lately. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm pretty sure it could get me, and probably will, into trouble.
I went home to Andalusia last weekend. (Sarah's Wedding) It played out to be quite interesting, to say the least, just like I knew it would. I'll entertain you with the chain of events...I arrive in the thriving metropolis that is affectionately called "A-Town" at approximately 8:30pm. I call Megan, who I will be crashing with, and she tells me to grab beer and head on over. Of course, this is what I expected to hear, it's Andalusia for goodness sake. I pull up to (what I would have called "the Chevron") the Kangaroo Store. I notice that there are multiple flashing lights coming from this gas station. Which in my hometown only means one thing, someone was drunk driving home from a fun-filled day at the river, and SURPRISE, got pulled over. So, I purchase my beer, and of course begin my departure driving past the flashing lights. I have to know who's in trouble, how else will I be able to contribute to all the gossip I be trading this weekend!! Low-n-behold, I caught the mother load. GG* was being arrested. I immediately start spreading! This is a huge deal, in GG's own words, "I'll never be arrested in Andalusia, I know too many important people." Lovely, I know. Normally, who cares, but with GG, it's HUGE.
My night continues with a 5 year reunion at Clair's boyfriend's house. EVERYONE (minus Joe, Will, Jeb, and Christina) that I graduated with (and was friends with), was there! I did LOTS of catching up. I also found out a few things that I don't know if I necessarily wanted to hear. Just like in high school, I was the sober one and people were asking for rides. Only now the 1 AM harassments are for more beer, not "please get me home before curfew." Beaner* and Ken* extend the first request. I, of course, take them. Why not? Well, for those of you who don't know, Ken* is the high school sweetheart. I ask him, while Beaner was inside, how are you and the girlfriend. His response, "well...actually...I've purchased a ring." Honestly, this is no surprise, but its still weird, and WHY did he feel the need to tell me? To remind me that I can't find a normal guy to settle down with?! Awfully, sweet of him.
The wedding was great, fun times. Its been awhile since I've partied with the people who taught me how. I saw all the parents that I've missed, and all the friends that I haven't seen.
All-in-all, successful weekend trip to the homestead.
the joy that comes in the morning.
